There is a problem with the purple.serverstoday.com (dns11/dns12.serverstoday.com) server resulting in all accounts on it being offline. We are presently working on getting service restored, and will update this issue just as soon as we can.

The purple server was taken offline by the data center for abuse reasons. We/they are investigating, and working on resolving the issue. We will bring the server back online as soon as we can. We are sorry for the inconvenience, and will keep you informed.

Thanks for the status update, Rob.
Is there any reason why you can't activate a Mirror for some long-standing, trusted userids while you're hunting for the abusive bot(s) / scripts(s) / rootkit(s) ? I'm losing customers |

Thanks for the update Rob. I just happened to check this forum due to my site not working and it happens to be on Purple. In the future when something like this happens will this forum be the main form of notifying the account holders or can their be some sort of email notification to all users of the particular server?

Rob,
With purple being down now, and last week's email not working, I have been down for the better part of a week. I am trying to get a refund for this month as the 99% uptime guarantee has not been met. Billing is giving me the runaround. I can't afford to be down for a week. If these problems continue I will have to choose another hosting company. |

Any update on when the server is back up? My customers are becoming restless.

I would appreciate another update. Surely something can be done to help us out. I've been very happy with hosted and you've always been so fast to reply to any questions. I understand you are busy trying to solve the problem, but just a simple, "we're still on it", or "we're almost finished "would be nice.

i agree ... i have never had any problems until recently trying to get a response from people. and i can not afford to have my email down for such extended periods. last week, the mail was bouncing back to senders ... i hope that is not the case this time, and that the mail will be there when we are back up. i am waiting for some important documents. i hate the thought of having to change my email again, but if this one is going to be that unreliable ... i just may have to.

Do any of you know of a site where I can upload a picture and link to it from ebay? I tried my tripod site, but tripod blocked the link. Thank goodness I used the ebay picture host this time instead of linking to my domain.
I can't use the ebay picture hosting for this pic because I need it to be in the decription and that calls for linking to my domain. MelissaJ |

Melissa,
Please contact me and I'll give you a subdomain for temporary use. It is already created. (no charge of course) -------------------- |

We have now been down, near as I can figure, going on 36 hours. The first message back to me said it was taken off line for abuse reasons. The second message I got from support said it was due to connection issues with the data center. The real question is why is it not up yet? If a client of mine has server issues, and they were not resolved with 24 hours, they would want my head on a platter. I'd need a real good reason why their server was not back up and running within that time frame. When worse comes to worse, we can usually cobble soemthing together for them and get them back up and running within that time frame. Quite often, less than that.
Other than two messages at the beginning of this discussion, I have not seen anything like an estimated time when we would be back up and running, no communication as to the exact nature of the problem, not even someone trying to dazzle us with BS. On top of the outage that happened last week, and some of my messages not being delered for 5 days, this is wholly unacceptable. I am fortunate that I do not depend on this website for a living, nor is the e-mail absolutely critical, though I have been shifting more and more e-mail to the server here rather than with the other accounts I have with other providers. At least I can, for the most part, get my work done. There is also nothing said here whether the e-mail is being held or bounced, and I haven't sent a test message to find out. However, a ping sent to my site shows a timeout, which does not bode well for messges being sent to me at the address I have here. When will this be brought back online? How quickly will the backed up mail be handled? What happens to incoming mail in the meanwhile? |

I agree with steve. This server has been down for far too long. I emailed technical support and they told me that there is no ETA as of yet for the server to be up and running. They better send a refund along with their apology.

well, sadly, i was ddepending on the email ... i should have been using my isp, because i was waiting for a response about a job i really wanted ... i just contacted the person to find out if they had made their decision, and they said that they have been trying to contact me ... but the mail was all BOUNCED. therefore ... i lost my chance. i am quite upset, and this is rather unfortunate. so that answers the bounce question.

Another day is getting ready to dawn, and still no word on the status of the purple server. Surely someone has had a minute or two to post to this forum, or e-mail to those of us who have posted to tech support the status of the problem they are trying (are they actually trying?) to resolve.
This is getting past the point of ridiculous. When will the server be back up and on-line? |
